FROM MISS LISA
Children explored a variety of loose parts including wooden blocks, tiles, stones, and tiny animals. As they designed and built their own creations, they practiced problem-solving, planning, and spatial awareness. Many children created imaginative stories to accompany their structures, strengthening language development, creativity, and social communication skills. Open-ended materials like loose parts encourage divergent thinking and awareness of the different texture, shapes, and weight. They also allow children to express their unique ideas in meaningful ways. Children have been exploring pinto beans in a variety of ways as we learn about plant growth. They examined dried beans in the science center, observed the changes that occurred after the beans were soaked overnight, and set up bean sprouts in baggies with wet paper towels placed in the window. Through careful observation, children are learning about the stages of plant development, making predictions, and noticing how roots emerge before the sprout begins to grow. Have a great weekend
