Did you know?
The infant and young toddler rooms are different from the rest of the preschool.  Because young children are still developing immunity to common illnesses we maintain stricter rules to ensure sanitized rooms.  We remove shoes when we enter the rooms (adult and children), we wash and disinfect table, chairs, bibs and toys daily. Young children explore the world through sensory experiences and will often put toys in their mouths, these toys are taken to be cleaned to ensure reduced exposure to germs.  Our goal is to keep your children happy, healthy and exploring the world in fun and exciting ways. Please feel free to contact us if you have any questions or concerns.

Infectious Diseases in Preschool Settings*

Most infections are spread by children who do not present symptoms.

Temporary exclusion is recommended when the child has any of the following conditions:

  1. The illness prevents the child from participating comfortably in activities;

  2. The illness results in a need for care that is greater than the staff can provide without compromising the health and safety of other children;

  3. A severely ill appearance - this could include lethargy/lack of responsiveness, irritability, persistent crying, difficult breathing, or having a quickly spreading rash;

  4. Fever (temperature above 101°F [38.3°C] by any method) with a behavior change in infants older than 2 months of age.

  5. Diarrhea is defined by stools that are more frequent or less formed than usual for that child and not associated with changes in diet.
